Web design jargon - brought to you by N - Web Design

Your web site and acronym hell

Web sites are now at a very sophisticated and mature stage. this has come about from 30 or more years of standards, technologies and developments by some of the most creative minds, working for some of the biggest technology and scientific companies and institutions in the world. This is great for progress, but unfortunately...

Science + Geeks = Jargon

And lots of it...

The need for internet jargon

Unfortunately, jargon is something that, in any environment, speeds up communication between people who are au-fait with the parlance. If you work in finance, it is all ISA and APR, Lawyers have their COD and DCA, Electricians have their PIR, RCD and so on. The world of computers is no different.

Fortunately, the nature of what is sometimes so difficult to understand on the internet is self-explained by using the power of the internet itself. We have provided a small glossary of terms, aimed at answering or explaining some of the questions posed by our [inevitable] use of jargon. While we have done our best to provide as much information as we can about the technological terms and acronyms we may use in our site, and will continue to add, improve and update our glossary, we aren't too concerned about leaving you confused because there are 1001 other sites with further information to help you understand what you need to know.

A word of caution

The great thing about the world wide web, is the massive amount of information that is available freely to surfers. Unfortunately, not every piece of information may be accurate. Most web sites that provide information will generally be accurate (as we hope we are), but will normally not be complete authorities on most subjects (as we know we are not) and most will never intentionally mislead, but errors and outdated information is sure to be included somewhere.

Our web site, technology and internet knowledge

Because of what we do and how long we have been doing it, plus the need to keep up to date with technological and industry developments, we think we are pretty knowledgeable on this subject.

If you think we are missing something that would help our visitors get more from our web site, please let us know. You can find us from our contact page.
