Love/hate - The science of objectivity
You've probably noticed that things have changed around here.
It's all part of a general re-vamp of all the company web sites, including structure, design, layout and content. N-webdesign has been pretty lucky in that it has only really had a design refresh. The other 2 sites, n-go.co.uk and n-host.co.uk, are each having a major re-design.
In one respect, this is great for us, because we love designing web sites, we love testing and trying new systems and we love new and fresh ideas and the challenge that comes with making them work.
What we don't like so much is deciding what is right for our own sites.
It's called a lack of objectivity.
When we do work for clients, we do some great stuff but we often take for granted how easy it can be because we only really help, encourage and advise, not decide.
So here we are, 30 or so photoshop [and twice as many fireworks] files in the virtual wastebasket and no nearer our objective.
I think that sometimes it is really easy to pick the best option out of a few designs for a client and wonder why they can't make up their mind?
I'd like to apologise to all you guys. I now know exactly how you feel.
I for one am a better web designer/developer for having to do the job of hammering the proverbial cobbler's shoes...
I'll let you know how I go on. Or not as the case may be.
